Rosalie Hale and Emmett Cullen is the first married couple in the Cullen coven/family. Rosalie was born as Rosalie Lilian Hale in 1915, in Rochester, NY. She lived during the first Great Depression but her family was wealthy because of her father's job. Rosalie always wanted to marry someone rich and good looking, and she found that kind of guy. His name was Royce King the Second and her father's boss' son. Royce flirted with her and later proposed to her. A week before the wedding, Royce and his friends rapped Rosalie and left her in the street to die, bleeding. Rosalie was found by Carlisle who followed the scent of blood. Carlisle changed her. She awoke to voices of the Cullens arguing about Carlisle saving Rosalie. Later, she took revenge by killing every of Royce's friends and him, but she was careful enough to not drink their blood.
Two years later, during her hunting activities, Rosalie found a guy named Emmett McCarty who was mauled by a bear. She carried him to Carlisle resisting her thirst for Emmett's blood. Carlisle changed him and Rosalie fell in love with him and married him. Emmett describes this experience as "being saved by an angel who brought him to God". He wasnt upset though.
Rosalie is the most beautiful woman in the family. She has blonde waby hair and golden brown eyes. She is pale with ice cold skin. She was always self centered but loyal to everyone she loves. She treasures humanity and often wished she was human. Rosalie means "White Rose"
Emmett on the other hand is tall, with dark brown, curly hair and golden eyes. He is muscular and the strongest in the family. He loves to laugh and make jokes all the time. He has many enhanced abilities such as superhuman speed and strenght.

Esme Cullen

Esme Cullen, born as Esme Anne Platt in 1985, is Carlisle's wife. Esme was born and lived near Ohio. She met Carlisle when she was a 16 year old girl with a broken leg. She never forgot him though. Later, she got married to a man who was violent and who left for the army. Esme was pregnant, and that gave her motive to run away. She fled north to become a teacher, and in 1921, her sor was born and died a few days later. After the baby's death, Esme felt that she no longer had any reason to live. She tried to commit suicide by jumping off a cliff, and she was presumed dead when she was brought into a morgue but her heart was still beating. Dr. Cullen was working night shifts there, and recognized her as the happy, beautiful young girl he treated once. He did not want Esme to suffer any longer and changed her into a vampire, fell in love with her and married her later.
Esme has caramel coloured hair and golden brown eyes. She is beautiful and gifted with the ability to love passionately. As a vampire, she also possesses inhuman strength and speed.
Esme means "love or to be loved"

Carlisle Cullen

Carlisle Cullen, born in 1640s in London, was son of an Anglican pastor, during a time of religious and political upheaveals. Carlisle's father and other pastors led hunts against, witches, werewolves and vampires. Carlisle later was put in charge of those hunts and that's how he tunred into a vampire. During one of those hunts, in that chaons that ensued, he was attacked by a vampire and left bleeding. Knowing what he was becoming and what his father would do to him, he hid himself in a cellar and stayed there. He was horrified and tried with many ways to kill himself. Later on, he found out that he was able to survive on animals' blood. Carlisle found a new life. He was studying during the day and practicing his skills during the night. Those years of learning and practicing made him a great doctor. He met and changed Edward during his shifts on Chicago during the Spanish Influenza. Later, he turned Esme, his wife, Rosalie and Emmett. His family was joined by Jasper and Alice, two more vampires and they all moved to Forks.
Carlisle was described as being like a model; the perfection of beauty. He has blond hair and golden brown eyes. He was 23 when he was changed. Carlisle's most important personality trait is his compassion. As a result of being a vampire, he has many enhanced abilities such as running at high speeds and incredible strength.
Carlisle is a Celtic name and means "strong".

Bella Swan

Isabella "Bella" Marie Swan, born to Charlie Swan and Renee Dwyer on September 13th 1987, is the second main character. Her parents were living in the small town of Forks, Washington. Bella's parents divorced when she was six months old and Renee took Bella and moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Very little of Bella's life in Phoenix is mentioned. She never had a relationship or many friends. She was taking ballet lessons and piano lessons too.
Bella is pale with long, curly brown hair and brown eyes. She is clumpsy but caring and loving and she has a dry sense of humor.

Edward Cullen

Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) was born as Edward Anthony Masen on June 20th, 1901 in Chicago. His parents, Edward Masen Sr. and Elizabeth Masen, both died during the Spanish Epidemic Influenza. Edward was changed by Carlisle Cullen into a vampire and became a member of his family. He is extremely attractive, with bronze hair and golden brown eyes. He is polite and charming and very romantic. He likes reading books, studying languages and playing the piano. Edward enjoys listening to jazz, classical jazz, classical, progressive metal, alternative rock, punk rock, rock and indie rock but he hates country. One of his hobbies is collecting cars. He own a silver Volvo C30 and an Aston Martin Vanquish V12 and bought his sitster Alice a Porsche 911 Turbo.
As a vampire, he possesses superhuman beauty, strength, speed and agilitiy. He is the fastest member of the Cullen and his special ability or else "gift" is reading minds.
His name, Edward means "rich guard"

Twilight begins with Bella Swan, a 16 year old girl, moving to Forks, Washington State, to live with her father, Charlie. She is befriended by many students, but she is captured by the mysterious Cullen siblings. Her life was saved by Edward Cullen many times, but he refuses to explain this act to Bella and warns against becoming friends with him.
After research, Bella discovers that Edward is a vampire. Later they fall in love and Edward introduces Bella to his family, the Cullens. The danger is not over though for Bella. Three nomadic vampires meet her one afternoon when she was with the Cullens, and James, one of them sees her as a "snack". Now, Edward and his family have to protect her. Bella ends up in Phoenix, Arizona where she decided to go and find James who is after her to save Edward's life. James bites Bella on ther wrist, but Edward and his family stops him from killing her. Carlisle is trying to stop the bleeding and convinces Edward to suck the venom out of her blood. A severely injured Bella is taken to the hospital. Later on, during the prom, Bella expresses her desire to become a vampire but Edward refuses.


New Moon is the sequel of Twilight. Bella on her 18th birthday in the party which the Cullens have organized for her in their house, gets a paper cut, and Jasper attacks her because of his lack in resisting to human blood. Edward saves her, but she cuts herself worst by falling on glasses. Carlisle, later on, tells her about Edward's view on human souls. Edward on the other hand, have other plans. Knowing that Bella is in danger all the time while she is with him, he leaves her behind and leaves with his family. Bella is broken heartes and depressed for months but finally she finds shelter on Jacob Black's company who lives in Forks. Jacob falls in love for her, but he has to stop talking to her for an unknown reason to her. Bella sees that when she puts herself to risk, she can see Edward's face again and hear him talking to her. Later on, she realizes with Jacob's help, that her best friend, Jacob is a werewolf, an age-old enemy of vampires. Jacob's pack members are on constant patrol for Victoria, a vampire searching to kill Bella due to the death of her mate. Alone again, Bella returns to seeking thrill-inducing activities. Through a series of miscommunications, Edward believes that Bella killed herself and decided to go to Italy, Voltera, to end his own life. Bella with some help from Alice Cullen, travels to Italy to save her love. There she meets the royal family of the vampiric world, the Volturi, where leaders are Aro, Caius and Marcus. Aro wants to kill Bella because she is human and knows a lot for vampires and she cant be trusted. Alice stops him by showing him one of her vision about Bella. Returning to Forks, Bella forgives Edward for leaving her, and the Cullens vote in favor of Bella being transformed into a vampire, to Edward and Jacob's dismay. Edward gives Bella a choise: either she lets Alice change her after their graduation, or, if Bella agrees to marry him, he will change her himself. However, Jacob reminds Edward of the treaty the Cullens made with the Quileutes: they will not attack each other, as long as the Cullens never bite a human.
